George was born and raised in Calgary but grew up on a farm outside of Neilburg, SK (Manitou Lake EFC). Every summer from 10 years old to 18, he spent the summer working on the farm, attending camp, and enjoying the fellowship of a great youth group. His hobbies are woodworking, 'techy stuff', skiing, golf, and curling. Being on the water and enjoying water sports like wakeboarding and skiing refill his energy tank and keep him going. So do his grandkids.
George attended Briercrest Bible College where he met his wife, Lyn. They were married in Windsor, ON in 1976. They have three girls, Jennifer (Darren) Pinch, Abbey (Jon) Kehler, and Kelly Budd. George's eight grandkids have a way of bringing the kid out in him and putting a smile on his face every time he sees them.
After serving in Calgary as a Youth and Music Pastor, he got his pastoral degree from Providence Seminary. He pastored at Saskatoon EFC for 11 years before coming to Okotoks in 1993 where he has served to this day. He continues to grow and learn through both informal channels like books and seminars and formal channels of education. In 2005, he received his Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago. The area of study of research was in church leadership.
George loves to teach the Bible and see people 'get it' - see how practical and life-changing God's Word can be. He looks forward to sharing God's Word and its practical advice with the OEFC family every Sunday.
